The triple crown: all three Harrow tournaments in one season
In 2022/23 the girls won every tournament Harrow International School ran in their age group - three finals, two of them settled in the last minutes.
In the 2022/23 season our girls did something no other team in their age group had done: they won all three tournaments Harrow International School ran that year.
Harrow Youth Cup, 29 October 2022. Lions FC 3-0 Harrow, with a hat-trick. Lions FC 4-0 Kings College. Lions FC 3-0 Denla School. The final against STA71 finished 2-1 - one of the most thrilling games in the club's history, won with a goal in the last minute, after which the parents and coaches were on the pitch.
Harrow 7s Football Festival, 28 February 2023. Lions FC 3-0 Harrow, 4-0 Brighton, 8-0 Amnuay. The final was against STA71 again: 0-0 at full time, then a golden goal with three players a side on the pitch, and we scored it.
Harrow International Football Tournament, 17 and 18 March 2023. Lions FC 3-1 Shrewsbury, 2-2 Tanglin of Singapore, 4-2 BISP Phuket, 3-0 Shrewsbury, 4-1 Tanglin. The final against BISP Phuket started at 35 degrees. An unlucky bounce put us a goal down early, we pulled it back to 1-1, and it went to a best-of-three shootout, which we won.
The girls celebrated properly. Parents were jumping and dancing, and before long 'We Are the Champions' was coming out of our tent. A day to remember.
